Keeping players on your FiveM server

Short answer

Measure how many new players return after one day and after one week (txAdmin’s player database has first and last join). Improve the first session (fast join, clear start, someone to talk to), give goals and progression, help players form groups, keep a rhythm of events and updates, moderate fairly and keep performance smooth. Ask leavers why, and fix patterns rather than single complaints.

Getting a player to join once is marketing; getting them to come back is the server itself. Most new players decide in their first session whether they will return — and most who leave never say why. Measuring return rates and fixing the first hour is where the biggest wins are.

Measure first

Export or query player first-seen and last-seen dates (txAdmin records both). For each week, count new players and how many returned the next day and within seven days. Changes you make should move those numbers; if they do not, try something else.

The first session

  • Short download and a helpful loading screen — see loading screen performance.
  • A guided start: a starter job and money within minutes.
  • Helpers or mentors who greet new players.
  • No harsh punishments for honest beginner mistakes.

Reasons to come back

EventsWeekly races, heists, community nights
NoveltyRegular updates with changelogs
FairnessConsistent rules and staff

Learning from leavers

A short, optional Discord survey for inactive members (“what would bring you back?”) reveals patterns: performance, toxicity, nothing to do. Fix patterns, announce the fix, and invite them back. Growth overall: growing your server.
